BassamFellows’ pioneering Craftsman Modern aesthetic, which marries architectural authority with a minimal-artisanal philosophy, was introduced with the debut of the iconic BassamFellows Tractor Stool at the 2003 Salone del Mobile in Milan. From its inception, the company has focused on building relationships with some of the world’s leading craftspeople, whilst forging innovative and intelligent collaborations across the worlds of architecture, branding and design. Products are made in Italy.
A little over ten years ago architect Craig Bassam and creative director Scott Fellows began drafting their vision for a new kind of American luxury company. A genuine, fully integrated lifestyle brand stemming from their shared aesthetic sensibilities, it would encompass architectural projects and interiors as well as impeccably crafted furniture, lifestyle objects and personal accessories.
Meet the Collection
Dining Chairs & Stool
The Brutus chair is something strong and solid, but in this case perspective is everything – the legs are elliptical, tapering down from the seat to the floor, and shaped like a rounded shark’s fin, so they look broad from one angle, and remarkably thin from another.
Option of Leather Upholstery or Vienna cane
The BassamFellows Tractor Stool has become a bona fide modern icon. The stool’s shape is directly influenced by the precise ergonomics of a Swiss tractor seat. From the outset, it has proven to be a piece of infinite variety and its versatility is evident in the sheer number of spaces in which it appears from hotels and restaurants to homes. The stool is elegant yet informal, and supremely comfortable. Made from carved Solid Walnut, White Oak, Ash or Ebonized Ash. Made in Italy.
The Brutus chairs are designs for now, when the Brutalist tendencies of Le Corbusier et al are again in the collective consciousness of the design world. They are designs with personality – “kawaii” as the Japanese say. “Chairs are not just utilitarian objects, they have to have personality, they have to be loved,” says Craig Bassam.
The BassamFellows Pebble Collection was inspired by a single simple pebble. It was conceived as a set of furniture that would look organic and harmonious, sculptural and natural – from any angle, allowing for different groupings without the need to be rigorously aligned.
Each of the pieces in the collection work as an abstract design statement in itself, but they also work together to form an integrated whole. Made of solid oak or solid walnut with option of padded upholstery for Pebble Counter and Bar stools. Made in Italy.
